Nuragic Lab
Nuragic Lab
Didactic archaeological workshop with interdisciplinary character
Description: The Nuragic civilisation stands out among the Mediterranean civilisations of the 2nd millennium B.C. for the great quantity and variety of its monuments, the most characteristic of which is the Nuraghe. The simple nuraghe is in the form of a truncated cone tower, consisting of a series of concentric circles of large squared boulders, which close to create a false dome. The complex nuraghe is formed by a central tower to which many other elements are attached, expanding the overall area. What were the construction techniques of these megalithic monuments? Thanks to this workshop you will be able to understand this easily while having fun.
After a concise introductory lecture on Nuragic architecture, given by an archaeologist, we will move on to the practical phase: the students will construct reproductions of the main Nuragic buildings (Tomb of the Giants, Nuraghe, or Sacred Well) with their own hands, using clay ‘stones’.
Aims and Objectives: The workshop aims to educate children in the understanding of the world of historical-archaeological research through the concrete practice of Nuragic building techniques. It is a specific activity that amply meets the aim of developing attitudes and relational skills, as well as manual skills, deepening historical, archaeological and anthropological knowledge.
Target group: Children from pre-school to secondary school age.
Implementation phases and methodology: Guided tour of the museum. Didactic archaeological workshop – manual with a multidisciplinary character.
